- Barnsdale Gardens
Barnsdale Gardens were created by the BBC's Geoff Hamilton, who hosted the "Gardeners' World" programme for many years. The gardens were his pride and joy and are maintained as a site of interest open to the public, but also as a memorial to Geoff himself. A beautiful place, just 10 minutes from Wing Hall.
- Belvoir Castle
Belvoir Castle (pronounced 'Beaver') has been the ancestral home of the Dukes of Rutland for the last 1000 years. A beautiful castle and home, Belvoir is a wonderful place with gardens and state rooms open to the public.
- British Bird Fair
Held each August, the Bird Fair is a draw for ornithologists and amateur enthusiasts from all over Europe. Wing Hall offers convenient camping and self-catering accommodation around the Bird fair and remains a popular destination and meeting point for people attending the fair.
- Cycle Hire
Rutland Cycle Hire offer bikes for all levels of ability. The 25 miles continuous cycle trail at Rutland Water takes in some spectacular scenery, and goes through woods and the shoreline. Rutland Water is just 1 miles from Wing.
- Hambleton Hall
Hambleton Hall is one of Britain's best restaurants. Set beside Rutland Water, the Hall has views to match the wonderful food. Highly recommended for a special occasion.
- Horse & Trumpet Restaurant
The Horse & Trumpet has been winning awards and attention over the last few years. It offers a real 'fusion food' experience, often mixing flavour which seem opposed with great success. If booking, ask to be seated in the old part of the restaurant, at the front, the newer restaurant extension lacks atmosphere and the same special, cosy feel.
- Nelson's Butchers
Nelson's are one of the foremost butchers in Rutland. A long tradition of quality and value, the residents of Wing Hall can certainly taste the difference! A local favourite.
- Nene Valley Railway
The Nene Valley Railway is an enthusiasts dream! Run by volunteers, the railway features wonderful engines from the age of steam which have an appeal across many ages - for the younger a ride on Thomas the Tank Engine, and for the more mature, a ride on a steam train from their youth! A very enjoyable day out, unique! Around 12 miles from Wing Hall.
- Oakham - the County Town of Rutland
Oakham is a gem of an English market town. With just 10,000 residents, it maintains the feel of a large village. This link describes some of Oakham's interesting features and some history of the town itself. Oakham is just 5 miles from Wing Hall and makes an interesting stop.
- Oakham Castle
Oakham Castle is a unique fortified hall in the centre of Oakham. Of significant historical interest, the Castle is a centre for the town and county and houses Rutland's famous collection of horseshoes. Admittance is free, this site has some additional details which may be of interest.
- Old White Hart Pub
One of our favourite local pubs - like a step back in time to a gentler era, the Old White Hart is a perfect English pub. With petanque in the garden and excellent food at great prices - it's certainly deserves a visit! Highly recommended (approximately 10 minutes from Wing).
- Rockingham Castle
Rockingham Castle is a day out with a difference! An impressive castle in its own right, Rockingham also attracts visitors to events throughout the year; Jousting, Antinques Fairs, Bonfire Night and Christmas festivities plus classic car rallies... there really is something from everyone.
- Rockingham Speedway
Rockingham Speedway is made for speed! The circuit features legs of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) and other track days throughout the year. Members of the public can take to the track to try out their speed skills in a variety of supercars, ranging from a Ferrar, Porsche, Lotus or Jeep at speeds which really shouldn't be allowed!

The Rutland County Museum outlines live in Rutland over the centuries. A collection of farm machinery and models of how Rutlanders have lived over the years are main features.

- Rutland Train Services
Cross Country trains run services through Oakham to Stamford and Peterborough in the East and Leicester and Brimingham in the West Midlands. This site has train times and connections to Oakham (only 4 miles from Wing).
- Rutland Water - Bird Watching Site
Rutland Water is a huge draw for migrating, and perennial, birds. It has been designated a 'Site of Special Scientific Interest' (SSSI) to recognise this. Beyond the birds, Rutland Water provides an unrivalled site for watersports, whilst maintaining a careful balance with nature.

- Rutland Water Osprey
Rutland Water is site to a number of Osprey pairs - which are breeding successfully in the wild, just a mile from Wing Hall. This site provides a webcam to let visitors get 'up-close' to these incredibly graceful - but endangered - predators. Lots of photos and facts make an interesting site.
- Rutland Water Triathlon - the 'Dambuster'
The Dambuster Triathlon is held each June and, being a qualifier event for the World Championships, attracts the best Triathletes around. Focused around the Whitwell centre, this event is now famous given its stunning location and the level of competition on display. Wing Hall offers camping or holiday accommodation for this event.
- Stamford Churches
Stamford has some magnificent mediaeval churches; the oldest dating back to the time of the Domesday Book. The churches each have their own unique story and form a popular tourist trail for anyone interested in beautiful old buildings, or the Christian faith over the centuries.

The Olive Branch is regularly voted one of the best restaurants in Rutland and Leicestershire. Offering a modern take on good traditional English food, there is a relaxed feel belying the traditional atmosphere of Michelin-starred restaurants. Very good. Approximately 10 miles from Wing Hall.

One of the country's foremost private boarding schools, Uppingham has a long history with some renowned former students. A strong focus on music and sport gives Uppingham an excellent extra-cirricular base.
